Steve & Sue Russell

Russell Pottery At Chalk Pond

372 Chalk Pond Rd, Newbury, NH 03255

In 2003, we moved to Newbury, N.H. The natural beauty of our new found surroundings created a peaceful space to live and work in. Working together everyday we help and encourage one another to develop our unique styles. We value each others artistic sensibility and having that extra perspective in the studio is invaluable.

Our work ranges from pieces such as drinking vessels, bowls, casseroles, French butter keepers, vases and Raku fired vessels. Many of the pieces are incised with botanical as well as free flowing geometric designs.

Our aesthetic influences come from a variety of experiences – backcountry camping trips to the canyonlands of the southwest – Art Nouveau & Deco – psychedelic poster art of the 60’s – and admiring both ancient and modern pottery.

We believe that through the skills, the aesthetics, and the love of the maker - clay can be transformed into a three dimensional expressive object of art.

Our work can be found in The League of New Hampshire Shops at Center Sandwich, North Conway, Wolfeboro, and Concord and also at the Exeter Fine Crafts Gallery and at the Sunapee Harbor Wild Goose Store.
